Does any one exactly where chaplin was born . My friend all ways tells me that he was born in a street in Southall, West london. Is this true ? I read some where that he did go to school in Hanwell

As some other posters have indicated, Chaplin claimed in his autobiography that he was born in East Street, Walworth. He spent most of his childhood in the Lambeth/Kennington area, but he did go to school in Hanwell for a while.

You might find the part of his autobiography dealing with his childhood. quite interesting. It's a good read.
