The Garlico actor

I have known that the man identified to be Fritz Schade is not always him! But who is this mystery man you have called Garlico? I know somebody knows.

Thanks for the plug, Phil! Yes, Murray, Garlico was played by a stage actor named Jess Dandy, whose real name was Jess Danzig. For years several of us sharp-eyed film watchers realized Garlico was not Fritz Schade – but didn't know who he was until film historian Bo Berglund put a name to the face ('The Two Faces of Fritz Schade' in Slapstick! number 3). Very little was known to Bo on Dandy at the time. In the last issue of Slapstick! (number 7) Barbara Danzig wrote a wonderfully detailed article on Jess Dandy, whom was actually related to her. It's great to finally put a name to a face we knew and give him the credit he deserves. Phil, be sure to get in touch with me when you can.
