A few years ago I picked up a video called The Origional Keystone Comedies Volume Eight. It has 4 short films that Sydney made for Keystone in 1914 and 1915. It was released by by a company called Barr Entertainment. Anyway, does anyone know anything about this series and how many vulumes were released and whats on the other 7 tapes and where I can order them
thanks

There was an eight-volume series by that name put out by Kartes in the early 1980s. I think that's the one you're asking about. I believe they're out of print now, but they still turn up on eBay. They're a great series for Keystone buffs because they include shorts that haven't been released elsewhere, and the picture quality and music are pretty good.
I don't have all of them, but there's a Syd Chaplin tape, a Mack Swain tape, an Arbuckle, a Normand, an Arbuckle/Normand, and a Chester Conklin among them. The one thing they *didn't* release was a Charlie Chaplin tape, which is strange, but maybe they just didn't have any good-looking Chaplin shorts that weren't Blackhawk prints.

Speeking of Blackhawk prints I have a tape called Mack Sennet Comedies Volume 2 its has 3 Fatty and Mabel flicks and I was wondering if this series is still in print and what films are in the other volumes and what chaplin shorts were included.

The videos Blackhawk released in the early 1980s are all long out of print. I don't really remember which Chaplins they put out on tape then, but I'm pretty sure 'Kid Auto Races' and 'A Busy Day' were among them.
I believe the only Chaplin Keystones Blackhawk has authorized for video since then are 'Tillie's Punctured Romance' and 'Mabel's Married Life' which are together on VHS from Kino, and on DVD from Image.
I have a bad feeling I'm forgetting something, though, so maybe Doug or David Shepard or someone can fill in the gaps!
