Smile on Ice

A week or so ago a professional skating competition was telecast.

Katja Gordeeva skated her short program to a vocal recording of 'Smile.'

Almost. I'm not only a major Chaplin fan, but back in my more athletic days I was a figure skater. My idol was Dorothy Hamill, so what she skates to..I notice! It was Dorothy who did this performance. And the vocal was by Johnny Mathis. I was thrilled watching my female hero skating to music by my male hero!!!!

And absolutely...this rendition was perfect for her performance! And she won the competition! Gordeeva was also wonderful. She has become a fabulous singles skater after the tragic death of her partner/husband.
