I was surfing the GWTW online collection through UT-Austin's site and came across a section on Paulette in 'The Search for Scarlett' section. It's a hoot! They have a memo from David O. Selnick written 05/10/97 about making a screen test with Paulette in which he airs his concerns about Charlie; it's great. Also, you can watch her screen test!

Point your browser to http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/HRC/HRHRC/DOS/GWTW/ scarlett/scrntsts/p...

Gloria Swanson's collection will soon go online at UT-Austin too.

BTW, my mother tells me that CNN etc. have yet to mention Paulette as a former wife of Burgess Meredith in his obituary today, and she's ticked (Paulette was a favorite of my mother's when she was a child in the 1940s).

Ah, NPR ...

I saw Burgess Meredith's obit on CNN and at least they showed _Of Mice and Men_ and a couple of things to demonstrate his existence before Penguin and Rocky.
