I'm always impressed by someone who sees the merits of _Limelight_.
I don't think it's Chaplin's easiest film to appreciate, but it has some things in it that one can find nowhere else, such as the contrast you mention.
I particularly like the music hall scenes because they give me an insight into a part of Chaplin's life and background which isn't all that evident in his other films, except, to some degree, _A Night in the Show_, and that's mostly from a spectator's point of view.
Maybe you'd like to elaborate on these points. Which scene is that? I agree that much of Chaplin's silent technique carries over into his soundies.
