What source produced the prints that have this opening footage? I don't think I've ever seen most of this, but it sounds like great material!
I agree, this is one of his best Keystones, and I love it when he does shocking stuff like letting a baby play with a gun. There are a few Keystones in which Charlie is practically a psychopath, and this may be the last and best of those. It's not very sophisticated humor, but I never complain about anything that makes me laugh!

I'm using two poor quality 16mm dubs (the best of which has vinegar syndrome!). Both of them (judging by the gag titles) are based upon an early W.A. films issue, but Geduld mentions the W.A. issue is widely available, but he obviously hasn't seen the footage in question, so who knows.
I'm sorry... I realize that doesn't help you much. If a telecine ever falls into my lap (ouch!) I'll be happy to transfer the footage for you.
