Ubiquitous supporting player and long-time CC entourage member, Henry Bergman owned a restaurant, Henry's.

Chaplin, according to Scott Eyman in a recent book, ate there regularly, influenced its steaks-and-chops menu, and was the financial backer.

The location was on Hollywood Blvd, near Vine. Any Angelenos on this panel know its history?

Was Chaplin worried about competition when he said:

<<CC on Hollywood, ca. 1948: 'All people think of is opening new restaurants.'>>

Just asking.

Bergman died in 1946 and I believe the restaurant died with him. Richard Carnahan

Please don't, George. He's simply trolling again, and doesn't deserve the courtesy.

Correct, Doug. It's clearly off-topic political provocation and, yes, trolling.

This is the sort of thing that 'CC4Fun' and 'jberg' were noted for, too.

I have absolutely no desire to pursue this part of the post further. I merely found it interesting that George is not immune from exactly the kind of inconsistency that he finds so objectionable in Chaplin. Sorry to have touched so sensitive a nerve. I'm more than happy to drop it.

Anyhow, by far the most important part of the post was correcting the error which George was (no doubt unwittingly) perpetuating, and setting the record straight on the over-attribution of the camera.

Well, excuuuuse me! I meant the studio building itself, which was originally on the Paramount lot and was physically hauled to the present location.

Still a pinhead.
