I was searching through ABE books and saw this: . Seldes, Gilbert. THE MOVIES COME FROM AMERICA. With a Foreword by Charles Chaplin. 1937.

It also said that the illustrations were done by Walt Disney. The book was kinda expensive, $125. So I thought I'd ask about it before investing such a high sum.

Thanks for the heads up, Lori. I just put a hold on it at the library. I'll have a scan and let you know. Anyways, it's out there, so you don't have to buy it.

Leslie - Apparently there's also an English edition with a different title. My library lists it thusly:

CALLNO 792.7 S46M AUTHOR 1) Seldes, Gilbert, 1893-1970 TITLE Movies for the millions: an account of motion pictures, principally in America; with a preface by Charlie Chaplin. TITLEVAR Movies came from America. IMPRINT London, Batsford [1937] COLLATION 120 p. front. pl.

So you could search for that title too. We tend to get a lot of British editions here in British Columbia. I wonder why that is?

I saw a copy of it in the MOMA Library some years back, and glanced at the Preface. As I recall it wasn't much, certainly not worth paying such a high price for. Phil's right
