Turner Classic Movies cable channel is having a marathon Chaplin festival tonight (Mon, Dec.6). Here on the West Coast it's from 5pm - 2:30 am, but it your times may be different. There will be three movies shown: Great Dictator, Modern Times and Tillie's Punctured Romance. In addition, several hours of the Mutual shorts will be shown.

Does anyone know if this showcase will continue another night this month? I would like to see more of the shorts and features.

Hi Lee,

Every Monday night in December is devoted to Charlie as TCM's Director of the Month.

I'm glad for the opportunity to fet good copies of these, tho so far (The Immigrant) I'm not happy about the music. While it was better (for this one) than the horrible sound effects score in the original Chaplin Festival from 1938, the music was too often going its own way with no relation to what was going on visually.

Speaking of TCM, anyone know if the Keystones they will be presenting will be any better quality than the ka-ka Madacys? Those will be worth taping for me...

I can't imagine TCM showing them if the quality wasn't at least half-way decent. Perhaps it's the same as the Kino release from some years ago.
