Essanay DVD review

For those of you who don't make it over to alt.movies.silent for Doug's spelling lessons and his ever so brilliant film restoration tutorial offered for the edification of David Shepard, I thought you all might be interested in the following:

Thanks Lloyd. This kinda thing sure beats the hell out of the stuff offered up by those (what was that description I heard a while back? Oh yeah, I remember now) 'nattering nabobs of negativity' who seem to make their presence so well known around here.

But your snide comments are unsupportable. What you call a 'film restoration tutorial' was, in fact, a simple statement that 'Orphans of the Storm' has a major glitch in it that was pointed out here, by me, and subsequently left unfixed on the DVD. I presume that Mr. Shepard read these comments, since he replied to other comments that I made at the same time.

In fact, I'm quite happy with most of David Shepard's work, and have thanked him publically for the many films he's brought us which would otherwise have remained unseen.

If you really do need to misrepresent my remarks, at least have the courage to do it in the forum in which they're made.

Actually, Doug has commented quite eloquently on the art of Charlie Chaplin on his ng, and Mr Totheroh's mean-spirited remark about his posting history is a bit of lie.
