Does anybody have an idea about which Chaplin short is featured in Chapter 1 of James Agee's novel "A Death in the Family"? The text mentions Chaplins steals a bag of eggs, a cop comes along, Charlie hides the eggs in the seat of his pants, flirts with a girl, she pushes him down after he hikes up her skirt, he sits on the eggs. Help!

It did feature in Limelight!
There's a scene where he steals another clowns eggs and puts them in his pants, dressed as a clown, and someone kicks him up the bum and they crack!

So could be from there!
