Can anybody verify that this poem was really written by Charlie Chaplin:

I've been trying to get a link to where it was published and that is virtually impossible. Nevertheless this poem of his is quoted all over the internet and said to have been written on his 70th birthday. Perhaps he wrote it and never published it?

Isn't it suspiccious that it's only on German websites, or did you find it somewhere else?

Couldn't this be a hoax that some German made up and attached HIS name to it to give it more credibility? As you may know, that is quite common on the Internet.

Now what does "perhaps he wrote it and never published it" mean? It's just a guess, but no substantiation.

Has he written anything that comes close to this?

Are there any "experts" on his writings? Is there any publication of his collected works?

Who can help me with this "investigation"

I stumbled over the text (in german) in the web and couldn't believe it was originally written by Chaplin cause it seems too comtemporary.
Maybe I'm not wrong...

Interesting find, I'll look further into the references, but it supports my suspicion.
