On April 17, 1948, the Immigration and Naturalization service conducted an interview with Chaplin as part of the process of his application for a re-entry permit.

The interview was apparently long and wide-ranging, and lasted four hours. A transcript exists but only small excerpts have been quoted here. Does anyone possess the full text, and, if so, how might I obtain a copy of it.

Hello, Connie. I was interested in your response to the request for the INS interview (I happened to have an extra copy, so I sent it off to him by U.S. mail). For whatever it's worth, my FOIA request with INS took a mere three years (!) and they were surprisingly lenient in censoring material

My estimate was 5 years because that's how long I had to wait for the FBI file. And I'm still waiting for the INS to locate a file on Kono
