Did anyone catch the short Chaplin vignette done by Gloria DeHaven in the middle of the marathon session of 'Hollywood, the Pioneers'? She was telling about how her father (who I'm assuming is Carter DeHaven) took her to meet CC when she was a little girl & how she was surprised at how handsome he was in real life. There are several great stills & clips of Charlie sans makeup in this little blurb. I'm sure they have (and will) rerun it since it was an advertisement for _The Gold Rush_ and the mention that CC is one of the Great Directors TCM is honoring this month.

As to the documentary, I'm only 3/4 of the way thru the third one _Single Beds & Double Standards_ or something like that (I'm sure Tom will correct me) and so far CC has appeared in 2 & 3. I feel I'm really lucky to have a friend who was willing to tape this for me, since in Utah it's considered a sin to spend Sunday in any way other than going to church or watching some stupid sporting event.

Leslie (who's soul will probably burn in hell since she does neither...)

Gee, I'm about to go out and buy one of those fidangled mini-dishes so that I can get TCM. My lousy cable company doesn't carry that channel in my area. I'm missing all these great replays of CC movies and movies he was in. AMC doesn't touch on nearly enough - and I don't recall ever seeing a silent film on it.

I want my TCM!!

Yes, I caught it (and taped it), and it's wonderful. The home movies were great, especially of Charlie 'serenading' Marion Davies on his tennis racket guitar. The anecdotes from people about their surprise and/or observations at how different CC looked from his screen character are remarkably consistent.

That's what I got a month and a half ago. My cable doesn't get TCM either, and it doesn't get certain stations I want either. And it's been great since .
