This was several years ago, but I can remember the pass where the scene happened; at least I think it was the pass. When I went to Truckey there were of course no signs saying this is where Charlie Chaplin filmed. I do know that the pass, according to the special I mentioned above, that was used was the same one that the Donner Party used that ill fated year they were stuck and had to spend the winter there. This is the pass I saw.

I was looking at a map to refresh my memory of where this is. North of Lake Tahoe, evidently. I passed through there may years ago on my way West to Berkeley, but at the time I hadn't seen _The Gold Rush_ and didn't know Chaplin had filmed there

Connie,

I've been there and I've ID the area. However, I can't give out the whole box of candy at one time.

Well, that's great. Something to look forward to. I think this box of candy is truly bottomless. It would take more than a lifetime to ferret out everything.

And it's also good to learn that you've found someone willing to pool his discoveries with yours. Someone not long ago posted here to the effect that the park on Sunset Boulevard where some Chaplin scenes were shot is still there and recognizable. Anyone ever photographed that?

One of the more interesting/Funny quotes of the 1920s times was the one

'A tree is a tree, a rock is a rock Shoot it down in Griffith Park'

I can't remember whose quote it was, but i know it was a silent era quote

Where's Griffith Park? Was it one Chaplin used?

I think the park on Sunset Boulevard that the earlier poster mentioned was used for shooting some scenes from _The Idle Class_.
