Personally I play thematically appropriate Beatle songs while watching CITY LIGHTS I Saw Her Standing There' for when the Tramp sees the blind flower girl. 'Drive My Car' when Charlie is driving the millionare's car. 'Help!' during the boxing match. 'A Hard Day's Night' for when Charlie is wandering the streets after the fight. 'Money' for when Charlie gets the needed cash from the millionare. 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away' when Charlie first sees her after getting out of jail followed by I'm Looking Through You' and 'I've Just Seen A Face' over the closing scenes.

I understand that Carl Davis is working on a suite of these tunes to accompany CITY LIGHTS with the assitance of Paul McCartney and it should be ready by the middle of next year. If that works out, they'll start on rescoring the others - some of the tunes for consideration for THE GOLD RUSH - 'The Night Before', 'I'm Happy Just to Dance With You', 'I'm a Loser.' For THE CIRCUS - 'Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite.', 'I'll Follow The Sun' and for MODERN TIMES - 'She's Leaving Home', 'Fixing a Hole.' Should prove interesting.

What a GREAT IDEA! I am reduping my video copy of The Circus with Three Dog Night songs and my video of Gold Rush with tunes from the musicals of Stephan Sondheim and Stephen Schwatz. I already overlayed 'I'm Dying' from Godspell over the march up the Chilicoot Pass. I'll be dubbing music from The Fantasticks tomorrow evening. Do you think something from Steppenwolf would accompany the 'Dance of the Rolls' appropriately?

I have an asbestos necktie and a rubber suit in case lightning strikes from the sky while I am committing this most heinous of blasphemies.

While we are scoring Chaplin films with Beatle music, might I suggest Why Don't We Do It In The Road as the soundtrack for A Jitney Elopement?

That would be great! And why not destoroy all original soundtracks and only release them with these marvellous Beatles tunes instead.

Or how about 'Beautiful Boy' for parts of _The Kid_?

My son suggests NIN's 'March of the Pigs' for _The Great Dictator_, and maybe 'Something I Could Never Have' for Georgia's theme in GR
