I saw A Dog's Life recently and I would swear that Stan Laurel plays the pickpocket in the saloon. I have never heard any mention of Laurel being in it, and was wondering if anybody could give me some information on this. Thanks!

That's Albert Austin, the *other* relatively tall skinny guy from Karno. Check the hair. Stan's is very straight and thin, Albert's is wavy/curly.

I think Sean means the pickpocket working the dance hall, not the mugger played by Austin.
I also think he looks a bit like Stan, though on closer inspection not so much as it at first appears. I brought him up on the newsgroup a long time ago. I think he also plays the German officer who has evil designs on Edna in _Shoulder Arms_. As I recall, at that time no one could identify him.
