I see on Amazon.com that there is a two disc special edition of Modern Times.

There is also an 8 disc set that includes four films, at two discs each, including Modern Times.

Are these the same or different?

Which has the most and best two disc version of Modern Times?

Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

Hi John: The 8 disc version is simply a box set of all 4 films with their bonus footage. I believe they're the same as buying the four sets individually. We've ordered our box set from Buy.com. They seemed to have the best pricing and they're great to deal with. Can't wait to see the Brownlow-Gill GR restoration. We've all waited a long time for this!! Rick Deerfield

According to Amazon the 8 Disc set has Edition Details:

. Commentary by film critic/historian Richard Schickel

But this is not listed on the individual volumes.

This is the first I have heard about commentaries.

Yes, both versions of MODERN TIMES are the same as to >disc< content. MODERN TIMES includes: Documentary by Philippe Truffault Introduction by David Robinson, illustrated by stills Galleries of film posters and photos Complete version of nonsense song Trailers from around the world A 1932 U.S. government documentary that sings the praises of the modern assembly line A promotional film by Ford, the company that developed the industrial assembly line
